EcoCollect was created in response to the urgent environmental challenges Sierra Leone faces due to plastic waste. Each year, Sierra Leone generates approximately 130,000 tons of plastic waste, with only a fraction properly recycled. The rest accumulates in landfills, rivers, oceans, and waterways, resulting in severe flooding, coastal erosion, and environmental degradation. Our mission is to reduce these impacts by transforming plastic waste management in Freetown and beyond.

Our Solution

EcoCollect provides a user-friendly mobile app that enables users to report plastic waste and earn rewards. With a point-based system, users are incentivized to contribute actively to waste management in their communities, keeping Freetown’s streets and coastlines clean.
